Housing & Environment
- Provide a warm, safe space such as a crate or pen where your puppy can rest and feel secure.
- Keep bedding soft, clean, and washable.
- Puppies should live indoors with the family, not outdoors alone.
Cleaning
- Keep bedding and sleeping areas clean—wash regularly.
- Clean food and water bowls daily with pet-safe detergent.
- Always provide a toilet area (puppy pads, grass patch, or outdoor space).
Diet & Feeding
- Feed a premium puppy food such as Royal Canin.
- Puppies under 6 months: two meals per day.
- Puppies 6 months and older: one meal per day.
- Fresh water must always be available.
Grooming
- Brush regularly according to coat type.
- Bath only as needed with puppy-safe shampoo.
- Puppies may need regular nail trims and grooming depending on breed.
Exercise & Play
- Puppies need daytime playtime and short walks.
- Do not take puppies into public places until they are fully vaccinated.
- Provide safe chew toys, balls, and puzzles for mental stimulation.
Health & Wellbeing
- Puppies must be vaccinated, wormed, and flea treated regularly.
- Look for signs of illness: lethargy, lack of appetite, coughing, or diarrhea.
- Give Bird Barn a call promptly, or if we’re closed, call your local vet.
