Housing & Environment
Provide a secure hutch or indoor enclosure that is large enough for your rabbit to hop, stretch, and stand on its hind legs.
The enclosure should have a sheltered sleeping area, plus room for exercise.
Always include hiding spots for security.
Use safe bedding such as hay, untreated wood shavings, or paper-based litter.
Bird Barn stocks hutches, cages, and bedding for rabbits.
Cleaning
Remove soiled bedding daily.
Fully clean the hutch weekly with a pet-safe disinfectant.
Provide a litter tray with paper-based or wood-based litter for easy cleaning.
Diet & Feeding
Hay: Unlimited fresh hay is the most important part of a rabbit’s diet and should always be available.
Pellets: Feed a small portion of high-quality rabbit pellets daily.
Fresh Greens & Vegetables: May be introduced gradually from 16 weeks of age. Start with small amounts of leafy greens such as bok choy, kale, parsley, coriander, silverbeet, and dandelion greens. Add vegetables like carrot and broccoli in moderation.
Treats: Fruit such as apple may be given sparingly as a treat (never citrus).
Fresh, clean water must be available at all times.
Bird Barn stocks premium rabbit foods, hay, and treats.
Exercise & Enrichment
Mini Lops need daily exercise outside their hutch in a safe, enclosed area.
Provide tunnels, chew toys, and wooden blocks to keep them stimulated.
Rabbits love to dig and chew—always give safe outlets for these natural behaviours.
Health & Wellbeing
Signs of good health: bright eyes, shiny coat, strong appetite, active behaviour.
Signs of illness: diarrhoea, weight loss, lethargy, loss of appetite, or breathing issues.
Regularly check teeth and nails—both grow continuously and may need trimming.
